BMW continues to innovate and expand their ideas as well as their place in the luxury market. With this idea in mind, they introduced the BMW X7 as the next of the bold and beautiful model in their crossover lineup. Yes, it is big. Yes, it holds its own when it comes to a huge on-road presence. Three rows and seating for 7 does not diminish its luxurious feel even though there’s something about that fact that really should. But it doesn’t. That’s part of the Bimmer magic. Beyond the 7 is the 8 Series and WOW do these models beg for you to jump behind the wheel and take to the track. The reason for that undeniable pull is, for the first time, they started with developing the 8 Series as a track car and then modified them for the open road. These gorgeous coupes and convertible vehicles exemplify BMW’s commitment to the ultimate driving experience. The coupe will hit showroom floors a few months before the convertible, but the joy and freedom it will provide wil ... read more

As we head into the winter months here in Colorado, the importance of tire care becomes even more important. Chains, tread depth, overall tire conditions matter when it comes to winter safety. And the team here at Antero Automotive puts you and your safety at the forefront of all we do. Proper tire attire can make all the difference when you’re in a snowy/icy area. Same thing with tire condition and tread depth. You want your tires to grip the ground exactly at the moment you need them to. No ending up in a ditch! Or worse. When it comes to the tread on your tire, it’s not just about pretty patterns. Those patterns are designed to direct water away from the tire as well as to help you stay safely connected to the road, accelerate, overall handling, and stopping. The industry standard here in the U.S. for proper tread depth is between 8/32” and 10/32”. Your tire isn’t considered bald, though, until it reaches 2/32”. During our wetter months, yo ... read more

Climbing one of Colorado’s 53 fourteeners is no easy feat. It requires foresight, training, and the right equipment. You don’t just walk out your front door and go straight up a fourteener. The likelihood of your success would be incredibly low. When Andy Emery set out to open Antero Automotive, he did it in much the same way he prepared for his ascent of Mount Antero. In a sense, he trained for it… years of devotion to learning not only about how to repair cars but the automotive repair industry itself. He also dedicated himself to learning how to run a shop effectively. From the time he was a kid, he already had the passion and curiosity around taking things apart and putting them back together. That day he summited Mt. Antero, he knew that when he opened his repair shop, that would be the name. Mount Antero is named after Chief Antero of the Uintah band of the Ute people. It is 14, 276 feet at its highest and rises 7,200 feet above the town of Salida. It is one o ... read more

Anyone who’s lived in Colorado knows that you never really know when winter will start or when it might end. And you also know that winter road conditions can fluctuate significantly throughout any given day. Even if the Farmers Almanac predicts a mild winter, native Coloradoans know better than to rest on their laurels because we’ve been fooled before! It’s way better to be prepared for the worst than to get stuck in the worst. There are a few things you can to do to prepare for our upcoming winter season that will significantly decrease the likelihood of you getting stranded on the side of the road. Start off with checking your tires for wear and tear, uneven wearing, and depth tread. Make sure to keep an air gauge handy because when things cool down, the pressure in your tires change and you’ll want to keep them at optimal levels (check your owner’s manual for specifics) because it will help them properly grip the road when you want them to the ... read more

Awwww. Squirrels are so darn cute, aren’t they? Well, they tend to get much less cute very fast when you get a bill from your favorite auto mechanic that’s hundreds of dollars (if not more!) all because that sweet little furry face chewed through your wiring! Most people feel better about if they think it was one of the cute rodents as opposed to mice or even worse, rats. Regardless of the culprit, it can end up costing you a lot of money and causing an awful lot of unnecessary damage. Do you remember back in 2013 when one of the big news stories was about the rabbits eating through the wires of cars parked at DIA? That was a big problem. Why in the world do they even WANT to snack on my wires, you wonder? One of the main reasons is that we’ve become far more eco-friendly and we love ways that contribute to making a greener planet. Anything to feel like we’re making a difference. Well, that’s all fine and good, but in this case, that translates into wire ... read more

Growing up, The Jetsons portrayed a hopeful look into the future and the ease that technology could offer the human race. Certainly, most of us did not think that we would experience these advances in engineering in our lifetime, but we must all concede that it is indeed happening now and at a very rapid rate. Let’s face it, laptops, smartphones, and self-driving vehicles are here to stay, and it’s only a matter of time before the latest technological advancements in mobility are our norm. In just the past few years, several prototypes for flying automobiles have been developed. At the Geneva car show, yet another flying car was revealed. This version, unlike the examples coming out of Silicon Valley, relies on technology that has been with us for some time. The flying car, hailing out of the Netherlands and known as the PAL-V Liberty, is a three-wheeled, two-seater car/gyroplane. It is driven by two engines and utilizes a rear-mounted propeller to pus ... read more
