How To Care For Your Tires

How To Care For Your Tires

Few things can affect the longevity of your car's lifespan more than your tires. That's why proper tire care is such an essential aspect of your vehicle's maintenance. If you play your cards right, any new set of tires you put on your car will last you an incredibly long time and keep you and your family driving safely for the long haul. Below find some of Antero Automotive's favorite tips and tricks to help your tires last like never before.  Tire Rotations: It's widely known that your front tires tend to wear out much faster than your back tires. This is due to your front tires' constant turns while you drive, which your back tires do less. That's why it's necessary to rotate your tires regularly! You'll want to rotate your tires roughly every 5,000 miles, though your vehicle's factory specifications may differ slightly. Frequent tire rotation will allow all your tires to wear evenly so you won't need to replace the tw ... read more

There’s a Reason We Have a Love Affair With Trucks

There’s a Reason We Have a Love Affair With Trucks

While there are many different types of cars on the road today, and even more being made in the meantime, the team at Antero Automotive has a genuine love affair with trucks. You may not be a truck lover yet, so read on to discover why you should be! First and foremost, trucks are known for power. While many people prefer the zip that comes with a smaller car, trucks can’t be beaten when it comes to powerful engines. While your fuel economy might suffer for this (especially with diesel!), the feeling of hitting that gas pedal and feeling your engine roar to life is second to none. Next on the list of why we love trucks so much is because of their hauling capacity. This is a huge reason why so many people fall in love with and utilize trucks; they can carry a load! A truck bed is imperative for many types of labor and jobs, making trucks ideal for working men or women. With the capability to get the job done, no car can compare to a pickup truck’s carrying capacity. Similar ... read more

Why own a hybrid?

Why own a hybrid?

There are many reasons to own a hybrid, but not everyone is easy to convince! With so many different hybrid options now available on the market, there’s a hybrid out there for every price point and style. Read on for why you should own a hybrid, and some of the essential hybrid services Antero Automotive can help you take care of! Hybrids are economical vehicles, and this is due to one significant difference between a hybrid and a conventional car. The simple explanation for what the difference between a hybrid and a standard gasoline engine is in the way that its engine gets power. A hybrid uses more than one type of propulsion by combining both a gasoline engine with an electric motor. This allows hybrids to consume less fuel while simultaneously emitting less CO2 than a regular gasoline or diesel engine. The actual driving of a hybrid is very similar to conventional cars, so performance is rarely an issue. You also have your pick of power modes, so depending on your destinatio ... read more

Preventive Maintenance Matters

 Preventive Maintenance Matters

While gasoline direct injection technology is one of the fastest growing engine markets, there are several consequences associated with this new type of engine. As it ages, there are a number of potential issues that direct injection technology can cause from a maintenance standpoint. The greatest of which is that with this new direct injection tech can cause severe deposits to form within your engine. These deposits are a result of gasoline being sprayed directly into the combustion chamber without intake valve washing taking place. Port fuel injection systems, on the other hand, helps to wash intake inlets by virtue of their design. Without this washing of the intake valves, deposits occur at higher rates in the direct injection engines. Additionally, direct injection technology engines spray gasoline directly into the combustion chamber under much higher pressure than in a port fuel injection system. This causes the contaminants to blow past the piston rings and into the oil sump. A ... read more

Reasons To Own a Diesel

Reasons To Own a Diesel

Diesel engines are known to be workhorses, they are 15% more efficient than a gas engine and use 100% of the fuel, whereas a gas engine does not. Diesel engines provide torque and pulling power; a gas engine is not able to match.    Efficiency Is King Diesels use less fuel because they burn 100% of their fuel, and that produces less waste. Diesel engines have more natural lubricant within the fuel, causing the engine to run with less friction and higher compression ratios. Creating more energy behind each combustion means that more you get more power. Diesels drive more miles on the same amount of fuel as a gas engine car.   Vibration Reduction Early models of diesel-powered cars and trucks had a reputation for being loud, smelly, and clacking sounds that caused a vibration. With all of the new technology, today's diesel engine is much quieter and smoother than the days of old.   Emission and Pollution Reduction  Even though a diesel still produces some pol ... read more

How to show your car some love: The importance of keeping your car in alignment, especially newer cars with automated driving/self-parking and adaptive cruise

February is an important month to show your love for the people who are important in your lives but also for your car! Take the time to show your vehicle some love this month. One of the greatest efforts you can make to show your love is to keep your car in alignment, especially newer cars with automated driving/self-parking and adaptive cruise.   When your vehicle is out of alignment, it can make for a rough ride. It can also be tough to steer and your tires are going to wear at an uneven rate. When your vehicle is in alignment, it’s a smooth ride. Your wheels face front and are straight. You also get the most out of the life of your tires and your gas mileage is improved.   When it comes to those newer cars with automated driving/self-parking and adaptive cruise, it requires some extra love. Regular alignments are highly technical. When it comes to these newer vehicles with specialized technology, it gets far more complex. You want a trained technician who has the exp ... read more
