Staying Warm in Winter

While it doesn't seem like the greatest idea to turn on your A/C in freezing temperatures, it can benefit your A/C system's life and function. One of the leading issues is the build-up of mold and bacteria due to condensation. Another issue is the breakdown of your A/C system caused by an extended period of time without use. To avoid these issues and further damage that can lead to costly repairs, we recommend running your A/C on full-cold for about 10-15 minutes every couple of weeks. Running your A/C this way will ensure the liquids flow properly and that the moving parts are thoroughly lubricated.

Using your A/C system simultaneously as your heating system will provide circulation of dry-air through your ventilation system, which will remove condensation and, in return, avoid the build-up of mold and bacteria. You will prevent car and health problems by simply running your A/C system and heater around 10-15 minutes every couple of weeks.

Besides the safety and mechanical aspects of the A/C system, it is also essential to highlight the comfort your HVAC system brings to you and your passengers. HVAC stands for Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning. In freezing temperatures, relying on your heating system for warmth can help in comfort and overall safety when on the road. Having your HVAC system checked for any potential problems is essential in case you need it. This means having your heating system checked before winter and your A/C system before the warm months begin.
