Bringing the Romance (With a Pandemic On)

Bringing the Romance (With a Pandemic On)

Photo by Satya Tiwari on Pixabay   It’s a shame, but this might be one of the least enthusiastic Valentine’s Days on record, with the pandemic and so much in turmoil right now. The most common advice for how to proceed is to stay at home. But there isn’t much advice about what to do to keep spirits up when we’ve spent so long cooped up together that we have started to lose sight of each other.   It’s easy to become complacent in a situation like a pandemic. Some rules structure what you can and can’t do, restrictions on things you might ordinarily do, and cautions and flags all through something as simple as a shopping trip.   But please remember that it is vitally important to keep some semblance of an occasion such as St. Valentine’s Day going. It’s a gauge by which couples measure the interest their ... read more

What Is “Concierge Service” & How It Makes A Difference To YOU!

What Is “Concierge Service” & How It Makes A Difference To YOU!

Life can be hectic. As we approach the holidays, it’s even harder to get the simplest things done. It would be so much better, for instance, if refuse service workers moved gently and quietly into your neighborhood, collecting your garbage not from the curb but where you store your bins, and sanitized the bins before they left.    That’s a level of service we are told is impossible, but it's only impossible because government regulation of sanitation services prevents a higher level of service for those willing to pay a premium. Which is too bad, because I imagine there’s a market out there for people who would prefer to pay a bit more to not have to handle waste in their busy daily lives and bring it to the curb on time.   Sometimes, it’s not convenient to bring your vehicle in. You would have to budget time to wait if there’s a line, and the time necessary to place your order with a shop. And then to arrange a rental car or a loaner ca ... read more

There’s a Reason We Have a Love Affair With Trucks

There’s a Reason We Have a Love Affair With Trucks

While there are many different types of cars on the road today, and even more being made in the meantime, the team at Antero Automotive has a genuine love affair with trucks. You may not be a truck lover yet, so read on to discover why you should be! First and foremost, trucks are known for power. While many people prefer the zip that comes with a smaller car, trucks can’t be beaten when it comes to powerful engines. While your fuel economy might suffer for this (especially with diesel!), the feeling of hitting that gas pedal and feeling your engine roar to life is second to none. Next on the list of why we love trucks so much is because of their hauling capacity. This is a huge reason why so many people fall in love with and utilize trucks; they can carry a load! A truck bed is imperative for many types of labor and jobs, making trucks ideal for working men or women. With the capability to get the job done, no car can compare to a pickup truck’s carrying capacity. Similar ... read more

Reasons To Own a Diesel

Reasons To Own a Diesel

Diesel engines are known to be workhorses, they are 15% more efficient than a gas engine and use 100% of the fuel, whereas a gas engine does not. Diesel engines provide torque and pulling power; a gas engine is not able to match.    Efficiency Is King Diesels use less fuel because they burn 100% of their fuel, and that produces less waste. Diesel engines have more natural lubricant within the fuel, causing the engine to run with less friction and higher compression ratios. Creating more energy behind each combustion means that more you get more power. Diesels drive more miles on the same amount of fuel as a gas engine car.   Vibration Reduction Early models of diesel-powered cars and trucks had a reputation for being loud, smelly, and clacking sounds that caused a vibration. With all of the new technology, today's diesel engine is much quieter and smoother than the days of old.   Emission and Pollution Reduction  Even though a diesel still produces some pol ... read more

How to Drive During the Winter

Following the old adage, if the weather is bad, stay home if you are able.  Before heading out, check the weather. If it looks bad out there, delay your trip if possible. If you still have to go out, call family or friends to let them know where you are going, what time you plan to arrive, and what route you are taking. Take an extra walk around your car, be sure your wipers are in good working order, that your fluids are full and your tires are inflated to recommended specifications. Plan to refill when your tank reaches ½ full. When accelerating or decelerating, do it slowly. While applying the gas, slow is best to regain traction and avoid skids, take your time to slow down for a stoplight, it takes longer to slow down on slippery or icy roads. Try to increase your stopping distance by 5 or 6 seconds; it may just give you the necessary margin of safety when you need to stop unexpectedly. It's always best to take your time to slow down for a red light and don't ... read more
