The Right Time To Start Winterizing

Winter weather is on the horizon, and now is the time to start preparing your car for mother nature's worst! The changing seasons bring warm thoughts of cinnamon-scented apple-cider and holiday gatherings, but it also brings the colder side of mother nature. Rain, sleet, ice, snow, and mud are all things you need to consider, and being prepared is better than being punished!

The right time to start winterizing is before winter fully hits! Now is the perfect opportunity to give your vehicle a once-over and make sure that it is ready for the months ahead. Frigid temperatures can wreak havoc on your vehicle, so we thought it would be great to compile a list of considerations to prepare your car for winter!

1. Check Your Tires - The wet season is upon us, and wet conditions can be hard on your tires! Check the tread on your tires, are there any cracks, are they worn-down, and do the general shape of your tires look healthy? Beyond that, check the pressure of your tires and ensure they are ready for the icy roads ahead.

2. Change Wiper Blades - Your windshield-wiper blades are an often overlooked crucial part of your vehicle's safety! When heavy rain and snowy conditions creep in, your wiper blades are what keep you safe and able to see the dangers in front of you! Replacing wiper blades is fast, easy, and relatively affordable. We recommend that you do this before winter's icy grasp takes hold.

3. Check Your Fluids - This is a crucial time to check your vehicle's fluids and ensure everything is clean, healthy, and topped-off. Your vehicle runs on a complicated network of arteries and physical machinery, just like we do! Frigid temperatures can be hard on fluids, call us at Antero Automotive, and we can recommend the best way to winterize your vehicle.

4. Test Your Battery - Nothing is worse than being stranded in freezing temperatures with no way to start your vehicle! It is a dangerous situation and one that can be avoided by monitoring the health of your vehicle's battery. You can check it yourself with a battery charger or take your vehicle to your local auto supply store, and they will be happy to check it for you!

Winterizing your vehicle is crucial to keeping you and your family safe on the road. Dangerous and slippery conditions can surprise you; properly preparing your vehicle can help to reduce the risk you face in these situations. Winter is all about getting ready for holidays and spending time with family, not sitting there stuck on the side of the road as the snow rolls in!
