Symptoms Wheel Alignment Is Required

Are your car’s wheels out of alignment? There are some symptoms you can look out for. You may notice that your car is handling differently than usual – in particular, if you notice it’s veering right or left while you’re driving, that’s a sign your wheels are off. If your tires are experiencing uneven wear, like if the treads are noticeably shorter on one side than the other, that’s also a sign of bad alignment. You may also notice that your steering wheel, driver’s seat, or brake pedal are vibrating or that your steering wheel is off-center. These signs are your car’s way of telling you that its wheels are out of alignment. Your car should drive straight, and it’s very important that you have full control over the direction in which you’re driving. If your wheels are out of alignment, that’s an instant safety issue, plus continuously driving on misaligned wheels can lead to even worse damage to your car later on down the line.

Mainly, we will be inspecting three factors with regard to wheel alignment. Camber is the inward or outward tilt of your tires when viewed head-on. If you have too much inward or outward tilt, that indicates improper alignment. Toe alignment is the extent to which your tires turn inward or outward when viewed from above. If your car’s wheels are pointing too far inwards (called “toe in” alignment) or outwards (“toe out” alignment), they will need to be adjusted. We will also check out the wear on your tires, which can tell us more about what we need to know. Think of your shoes: if you’re walking on your toes or on the sides of your feet, the soles of your shoes will get worn out in those places more quickly. Your wheels are the same way.
